Balangan & Dreamland

Balangan is a long strip of golden sand under a cliff on the north-west of the Bukit, with a reef break off its southern end and a row of simple warungs along the back of the beach. It has stayed low-key, with guesthouses and small villas on the clifftop and one of the best sunset walks on the peninsula.

Just to the south, Dreamland, now officially New Kuta Beach, sits below the Pecatu Indah resort area and the golf course. It is a wide beach with a beach break that works for intermediate surfers and bodyboarders, and the water can be powerful, so watch the flags.

The area suits people who want quiet evenings but are happy to scooter ten minutes to Bingin or Uluwatu for dinner. The Balangan cliffs are also a favourite spot for drone shots and paragliders on windy afternoons.
