Jimmy Beach Cafe is built into the line of warungs on Balangan beach, below the cliffs at the south end of the bay. Its covered deck faces straight out to the reef, so you can watch the left-hand wave peel along while you eat, and it is one of the better-looking spots on the beach. The menu covers breakfasts, fruit and smoothie bowls, sourdough toasts, tacos, burritos, poke bowls and Indonesian dishes, along with coffee, juices and cold beer.
It opens from 09:00 to 19:00 daily. Ordering is at the counter rather than at the table, and a service charge is added, so it is mid-range rather than warung prices. It is busiest after the morning surf and again in the late afternoon as people gather for sunset.
To reach the beach, park at the end of Jl. Pantai Balangan and walk down past the warungs; surf schools and board rental are right next door.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
