Dawn Patrol Bali Surf School

Dawn Patrol Bali is a surf school on Jl. Pantai Balangan, about five minutes from Balangan beach, and teaches everyone from children and first-timers to advanced surfers. Instructors choose reef and beach breaks around the Bukit to match the day's conditions and each student's level, and reviews frequently mention hotel pick-ups and lessons adapted to ability.

Lessons can be one-to-one or in small groups at ratios of two, three or four students per instructor, and there are discounted three-, five- and seven-day packages for those who want to make real progress. For experienced surfers the school offers surf guiding around Bali, and it also runs surf trips further afield, including G-Land and Red Island in Java and waves in Lombok, timed to the surf forecast. Surf-and-stay packages are available too.

The school is open daily from 6am to 7pm. Balangan is around 30 minutes south of the airport. Check prices for each level on the website and book online or by WhatsApp; early sessions, as the name suggests, often have the best conditions.
