Pantai Pandawa sits on the south coast of the Bukit in Kutuh village, east of Ungasan. The approach road was cut through the cliffs, and niches in the rock face hold large statues of the five Pandawa brothers from the Mahabharata, which give the beach its name. It is run by the village as a managed attraction, with a ticketed entrance, an official online ticket page and paid parking.
An outer reef keeps the inshore water relatively calm, so this is one of the Bukit's better beaches for families. Kayaks and canoes can be hired on the sand, and there are sunbeds, umbrellas and a row of warungs serving grilled seafood and cold drinks. Seaweed farming plots are sometimes visible at low tide. The Timbis paragliding launch site is a few minutes away on the clifftop if you want to combine the two.
Weekends and Indonesian public holidays get very busy with domestic tourists; weekday mornings are quieter. Bring cash for the warungs and sunbed rental.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
