Warung Olas is a small, covered outdoor restaurant on Jl. Pantai Balangan in Ungasan run by a Peruvian owner, Diego. It is one of the few places in Bali for authentic Peruvian food, and it does it at warung prices.
The menu includes ceviche clásico, tiradito, causa, tacu tacu, the combinado (a mix of dishes), tuna tartare and empanadas, plus a fish curry and an excellent smoked chicken. The team catch some of their own fish, including blue marlin, and make dulce de leche in-house. The lemongrass lemonade is refreshing. Service is friendly and relaxed.
Open daily from 12:00 to 21:00. Bring cash. It sits on a steep corner with a small parking area best suited to scooters, so take care arriving. A good stop on the way to or from Balangan beach. It is a casual, small-scale spot, so do not expect fast turnover at busy times; most dishes are made to order. Ceviche is the dish to start with, and the combinado is a good way to try several Peruvian classics in one order.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
