Ungasan Center Hostel is a small, owner-run base for digital nomads, surfers and long-stay travellers on Jl. Pura Batu Pageh in Ungasan. It has 16 capsule beds with 360-degree blackout curtains, plus three private wooden lumbung rooms, a shared guest kitchen and fibre Wi-Fi that the owners advertise at around 187 Mbps.
Prices are among the lowest in this guide, with capsules from about Rp 100,000 a night and lumbungs from about Rp 250,000. A supermarket is across the road, a gym is a couple of minutes away and Melasti beach is roughly 12 minutes by scooter.
The hostel is quiet and practical rather than a party spot, which suits people who want to work and surf. The owner, Wayan, takes direct bookings on WhatsApp, which the hostel says avoids platform fees. Scooter rental is the easiest way to reach the beaches and the Uluwatu clifftops. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
