Oka Warung is one of the bamboo-and-thatch warungs on the sand at Pandawa beach, run by a husband-and-wife team. The menu is short and local: nasi goreng, mie goreng, grilled fish and prawns, chicken satay, noodle soup, gado gado and pisang goreng, with fresh coconuts, juices and cold beer. Portions are generous and prices are low, well below the beach clubs elsewhere on the Bukit.
The warung opens from 08:00 to 20:00 daily. The family's son runs Oka Surf Lesson from the same spot, with soft-top boards for rent and beginner lessons in the gentle waves inside the reef. Early mornings are the quietest time, before tour groups arrive, and paragliders from Timbis often float along the cliffs above.
Pandawa is reached by the road cut through the limestone cliffs from Kutuh; there is an entrance fee per person and paid parking. Once on the beach, look for the Oka sign in the row of warungs. Bring cash.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
