Pasar Ikan Kedonganan, usually called the Jimbaran fish market, is where the fishing boats of Jimbaran Bay land their catch. It sits at the northern end of the bay on Jalan Pantai Kedonganan, and the covered hall is packed with stalls selling snapper, grouper, tuna, squid, prawns, clams, lobster and crab on beds of ice.
It is a working local market rather than a tourist attraction, which is the appeal: come early in the morning to see the boats unloading and the auction-style trading at its liveliest. Prices are by weight and open to bargaining. A popular approach is to buy seafood at the market and take it to one of the simple grill stalls nearby, which will clean, season and cook it for a fee, served with rice and sambal.
Google lists hours as roughly 07:00–19:00 (later at weekends). Wear shoes you do not mind getting wet, bring cash, and expect strong smells and slippery floors. It is a short drive from the Jimbaran seafood cafés if you prefer to eat on the sand at sunset.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
