Warung Balangan Corner is a simple, homely warung on the road just above Balangan beach. It is run by a small team who cook each dish to order, which gives it a home-cooked feel that visitors staying nearby tend to return to several times during a stay.
The menu covers Indonesian staples such as nasi goreng, mie goreng and curries, plus a pork dish that regulars single out, fresh juices and smoothies, and local specialities to try. Staff happily adapt dishes for vegetarians. Prices are low and portions generous. Because everything is made fresh, waits of 30 to 40 minutes are normal when it is busy, so it rewards a relaxed pace.
It opens in the afternoon and evening, from 14:00 to 22:00, which makes it a useful dinner option in a quiet area where many beach warungs close at dusk. Expect a few friendly resident cats and dogs. It is a short walk from the Balangan beach car park and surrounding guesthouses.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
