Zali brings Lebanese cooking to the Suluban end of Jl. Labuansait, a welcome change from the burgers and bowls that dominate the strip. It is a stylish, well-ventilated restaurant with warm lighting and a relaxed atmosphere, and it serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The menu is built for sharing: hummus, baba ghanoush (regularly singled out as a highlight), tabbouleh, falafel, flatbreads, grilled meats and wraps, with plenty of choice for vegans and gluten-free diners. The kitchen is halal. Flavours are fresh and generous, and the cooking is described as light rather than heavy.
Open Tuesday to Sunday from 08:00 to 23:30; closed on Mondays. It works well for a group who want to order several dishes and share. Service is friendly, though it can slow when the restaurant is full. It is a short ride from Uluwatu's surf breaks and the temple. Breakfast is quieter than dinner, and the restaurant also offers takeaway if you would rather eat at your villa.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
