Teja takes its name from a Sanskrit word for the energy of fire, and cooking over flame is at the centre of its modern European menu. The building near the Suluban road is made from raw textures and natural materials, with several intimate terraces looking west through the trees towards the ocean, plus a rooftop bar.
You can order à la carte, choose from a fireplace snacks list, or hand the decisions to the kitchen with the 'Feed Me' menu. Dishes regularly praised by diners include oysters, octopus and dry-aged meats and seafood from the grill, and the kitchen is happy to adapt dishes for allergies. Cocktails and wine are served at the tables and on the rooftop.
Teja is open daily from 4pm to 10pm, earlier than many restaurants nearby, so plan for sunset and an early dinner. Reserve through the website or WhatsApp, as sunset tables are often fully booked. Some tables are compact, so ask for a terrace seat if you want more space.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
