Putu Homestay is a basic, family-run guesthouse on Jalan Pantai Suluban, about a minute's walk from Single Fin and the cliff above the Uluwatu break. It is run by Mama Putu and her son, and guests describe a friendly, family atmosphere. Rooms are in a two-storey block and a bungalow around a paved courtyard with a garden table.
Rooms are plain but clean, with air conditioning and comfortable beds; some have balconies with a view of the waves. There is no pool or restaurant, but the cafés and warungs of the Suluban area are on the doorstep, and cold Bintang is on hand. Scooters can be rented on site.
This is one of the cheapest ways to stay right at the Uluwatu break, and it suits surfers who will spend most of the day in the water. Staying here also means you are past the local road-entry point on the way to Suluban. Contact the family by phone or through Instagram to book.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
