Blue Point Resort & Spa occupies a prime position on the cliffs above Suluban, also known as Blue Point beach, at the end of the Labuan Sait road. Rooms are modern and bright, with large windows and balconies looking over gardens towards the ocean, and the resort has a pool and spa.
Its main strength is the location. The steps down to Suluban's cave entrance and the Uluwatu surf breaks are a few minutes away on foot, and the clifftop bars and restaurants, including Single Fin, are close enough to walk to for sunset.
Reviews are mixed on service and upkeep, so it suits travellers who prioritise location over polish. Ask for an ocean-view room and check whether breakfast is included. The temple is about ten minutes away by car, and the airport around 45 minutes, depending on traffic. Surfers should time sessions around the tide, as Suluban's cave exit is only easy to use at certain levels, and watching the sunset from the cliff above the break is free.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
