Warung Local is a branch of a small Bali warung group (there are others in surf towns such as Canggu), set in a shaded open-air dining room on Jl. Labuansait near the Pecatu junction. It aims to offer warung-style Indonesian food in a cleaner, more comfortable setting than a roadside stall, and it is consistently busy.
You build your plate from a long nasi campur counter with a wide variety of curries, fried chicken, satay, vegetables, tofu and tempeh, plus spring rolls, fresh juices such as banana and iced tea. It suits groups with different diets, as meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans are all well catered for. Portions are generous and service is quick.
Open daily from 08:00 to 22:00. Prices are a little above a village warung but still good value for Uluwatu. Go at the start of lunch or dinner, when the buffet trays are freshest and hottest.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
