JOY Cafe and Bakery occupies a thatched, open-sided building set back from Jl. Labuansait, between Padang Padang and the Bingin turn-off, with a small garden and a pink sign out front. The counter displays the day's baking: filled doughnuts, croissants and other pastries made on site.
The kitchen serves breakfast and lunch: Turkish eggs, eggs Benedict, a big brekkie plate, ham and cheese crêpes, Nutella pancakes, smoothie bowls and a well-liked grilled chicken sandwich. Drinks run from specialty coffee and matcha to fresh juices and, for a late brunch, prosecco. Staff are friendly and the setting is calm compared with the busier venues on the road.
Open daily 06:00–17:00, so it is one of the earliest options for surfers heading out at dawn. It gets busy in the late morning; come early or after the lunch rush for a quieter table. Ask for extra bread with the Turkish eggs if you are hungry.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
