Soleil is the signature all-day restaurant at The Mulia resort in Sawangan, on the southern stretch of Nusa Dua beach. Its elegant dining room and terrace face the pool with direct access to the beach, and it is open to non-resident guests for lunch and dinner.
The menu spans Mediterranean and Asian cooking, from pastas such as a much-praised carbonara to Indonesian dishes like nasi bebek (fried duck) and nasi Bali, a sampler of Balinese meats and vegetables. Soleil's Sunday brunch is one of the best known in Bali, with a vast spread and attentive hosts. Complimentary bread and butter start every meal.
Open daily from 11:00 to 23:00. Book well ahead for Sunday brunch, which is very popular with expats and resort guests. Daytime visits are bright and airy; dinner is more formal. Smart-casual dress is appropriate. Expect resort pricing, with service charge and tax added to the bill, and allow time to pass the hotel's security check on arrival.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
