Kekeb is a family-friendly restaurant on the beach at Pantai Mengiat, inside the ITDC area of Nusa Dua, and a good way to try Balinese food without leaving the resort enclave. It opened in 2018 and serves Indonesian and Balinese dishes: chicken betutu slow-cooked in spices, beef rendang, sate, whole crispy duck, gado gado and grilled grouper with Balinese sambal, along with live seafood chosen from the tanks.
It opens daily from 10:00 to 22:00. In the evening, tables are set out on the sand under strings of lights facing the sea, while the covered dining room is cooler at lunchtime. Prices are mid-range and much lower than the hotel restaurants on either side, and the restaurant has a very high volume of positive reviews.
Pantai Mengiat is a public beach between the big Nusa Dua resorts and is easy to walk to from most of them along the beach path. You can book through the website or WhatsApp; ask for a beach table at sunset.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
