Warung Mak Jo sits on Jl. Raya Uluwatu about 300 metres before the turning for GWK Cultural Park, which makes it a natural stop on the way to or from the Bukit. It is a large, simple restaurant serving everyday Indonesian food at local prices, and it is often recommended by drivers and guides.
The menu covers grilled and fried chicken (ayam bakar and ayam goreng), crispy fish topped with sambal matah, beef ribs, mie goreng and nasi goreng, plus a buffet-style counter where you can build a plate of rice and sides. Portions are generous and the food comes quickly. There is a prayer room, which makes it handy for Muslim travellers.
Open daily from 10:00 to 21:00. It works well for a quick lunch after visiting GWK, or a last meal before heading to the airport, which is about 20 to 30 minutes away depending on traffic. Parking is available in front.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
