Nelayan, meaning fisherman, is the main restaurant at Jimbaran Puri, a Belmond hotel set right on Jimbaran Bay. It sits directly on the beach with open-sided pavilions and tables on the sand, and it welcomes non-resident diners for lunch and dinner. It offers a calmer, more polished alternative to the busy seafood cafés along the same beach.
The menu focuses on seafood and Indonesian dishes, from grilled fish and lobster with sambal to lighter lunch plates, plus a children's menu. Guests often mention the attentive service, a small appetiser from the house and the quality of the bread and cocktails.
Open daily from 12:00 to 22:30. Book ahead for sunset, when the beachfront tables are in demand, and arrive by about 17:30 to enjoy the light. It can be breezy after dark, so bring a layer. Enter through the hotel on Jl. Yoga Perkanthi; staff will direct you down to the beach.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
