Telaga Sari Bingin is a bed-and-breakfast style guesthouse on Jalan Bangbang Metuug, the quiet lane that links the Bingin road with The Cashew Tree. Single-storey bungalows with tiled roofs are arranged around a large, clean swimming pool and well-kept gardens with palm trees and plenty of sun loungers.

Rooms are plain but large and clean, with comfortable beds, air conditioning and toiletries, and they suit travellers with plenty of luggage. Neighbouring rooms share a front porch. Breakfast is not always included, but there are cafés within a couple of minutes' walk. Wi-Fi can be patchy in some rooms, and the lane can be noisy on Thursday evenings when there is music nearby.

The hotel rents scooters, which go early in the day, and that is the easiest way to get around: walking along the main Bingin road is not pleasant because of traffic and the lack of pavements. Bingin Beach is a short ride away. Contact the guesthouse by phone or through its Facebook page, or book through the usual online platforms.

Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
