Drifter combines a surf shop, gallery, bookshop and café under one thatched roof on the main road at the Bingin junction. It has long been a meeting point for the surf community, and the shop stocks boards, wetsuits and clothing, much of it made locally.
The café serves breakfast through dinner: eggs, açaí bowls, rice-paper spring rolls, nasi campur, sweet potato dishes and burgers, with many vegetarian options, fresh juices, good coffee and highly rated desserts. You can sit at the front bar and watch the street come alive towards sunset, or retreat to the shaded garden terrace at the back, which is much calmer.
Open daily from 07:00 to 22:00. It can feel warm inside on hot afternoons, so the garden is the better seat. There is roadside parking for scooters and it is a short walk from Bingin's lanes. If you are planning to surf, the shop can also help with boards, wax and local advice on the breaks.
Peak season runs July to August and over Christmas: the best villas and beach-club beds book out early.
